The Brecon Beacons National Park offers wild beauty, walking trails, waterfalls, and big-sky views — perfect for outdoor lovers and slow travellers alike.

This section of the route leads you through the wild, lesser-known heart of Wales — the Cambrian Mountains, often called the "Green Desert of Wales" for their unspoiled landscapes and sense of remoteness. It’s a region where wildlife thrives, dark skies sparkle, and slow travel truly comes into its own.
Begin in the riverside town of Rhayader, before heading into the spectacular Elan Valley — and then continue west, the journey takes you through forested hills and quiet lanes to Machynlleth.

This final stretch takes you through the dramatic landscapes of Eryri National Park (formerly Snowdonia), home to soaring peaks, deep valleys, steam railways, and some of Wales’ most iconic views. It’s a region where adventure meets serenity — perfect whether you want to hike, ride, or simply take in the scenery.
Travel through charming towns like Betws-y-Coed, ride a historic railway in Blaenau Ffestiniog, or ascend Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) — Wales’ highest mountain — by trail or train. Finish your journey in the medieval walled town of Conwy, where history and coastal beauty meet.
